A High-Quality SEMA Show
About this product:
Quality is our mantra. It is the theme underlying everything we do at the association, and it was our goal for the 2009 SEMA Show. The feedback we’ve received indicates that the Show was a success by any measure, and we’ll use the information we’ve collected to produce an even better event for 2010.
Award Winning New Products
About this product:
The 2009 SEMA Show kicked off with the annual New Product Awards Breakfast, where 36 of the hottest new products for 2010 received their first of many accolades. More than 1,400 products across 13 judging categories were reviewed for consideration by a panel of specialty-equipment industry veterans.
Once their votes were tabulated, the award ceremony began with a keynote address from X Prize Chairman and CEO Dr. Peter H. Diamandis. During his remarks, Diamandis reminded attendees why the SEMA Show’s New Products Showcase is a critical barometer for the industry. Small groups of individuals with ideas supported by technology are going to shape the future, a reality he referred to as “revolution through competition.” The following companies rose to the challenge and took home the hardware.
First-Time Exhibitors’ New Products
About this product:
The annual SEMA Show unites specialty-equipment buyers from across the globe with the industry’s hottest new products. This year’s New Products Showcase provided a 25,000 sq. ft. stage where exhibitors’ newest innovations made their world premiere. Of the more than 1,400 new products on display, more than 200 were registered by companies exhibiting at the SEMA Show for the very first time. The following pages provide a brief introduction to the products that debuted in Las Vegas on behalf of the SEMA Show’s newest exhibitors.
Moving Forward
About this product:
A total of 1,745 companies exhibited at the 2009 SEMA Show, and they were joined by more than 120,000 retailers, warehouse distributors, members of the media and other attendees, with about 24% of the registered buyers coming from outside the United States. SEMA staff and Show organizers offered new programs, enhancements and ongoing floorplan and organizational refinements to produce the best event possible, and the industry responded with gusto.
New to New Products
About this product:
This is my first time to the SEMA Show, and the New Products Showcase is very cool. I like the way it’s laid out by categories, and I’m amazed at all the things that I didn’t know about.
Not Fade Away
About this product:
The old familiar sight of several roadsters at a Southern California drive-in is fast fading away,” wrote Tex Smith in the July 1959 Hot Rod magazine. That’s right. As long as 50 years ago, rodders were concerned about changes in the car hobby. “The car that wrote hot-rodding history is giving ground to its newer cousins from Detroit,” said Smith.

Protect Your Business by Protecting Your Intellectual Property
About this product:
Any good idea or product is worth protecting—especially if it’s the mainstay of your business’ success. However, the process of protecting your intellectual property (IP) may seem daunting. To help explain the procedures and ease the complexity for SEMA-member companies, the association recently hosted a webinar entitled “Patents, Trademarks and Copyrights: Ask the Experts.” It was presented by Steve Lustig of Dickinson Wright PLLC; Robb Roby of Knobbe, Martens, Olson & Bear LLP; and Merritt Blakeslee of The Blakeslee Law Firm.
SEMA Member News
About this product:
SEMA’s Ambassador Program continues to grow and expand as member companies and their representatives take the lead in reaching out to and recruiting new members. Ambassadors are employees of SEMA-member companies. Just as their name implies, they serve as representatives of SEMA in the greater specialty-equipment industry. The program is an ideal way for current SEMA members to develop relationships within the industry and to recruit new members into the association.
